A very quick recipe blog for you today. If you happen to have half an hour to spare, and 12 eggs lying around, give this custard tart recipe a try! There are only five ingredients (ok, so the pastry is ready made, but you can make your own if you’re feeling adventurous!) and its really easy. Look out for the SCO label on your eggs - if its there, you can guarantee that your eggs will have been laid in Scotland.

Hearty congratulations to the stallholders, visitors and organisers of Haddington Farmer’s market, in helping the market along to its 10th birthday! The market began a decade ago on a sunny April morning, and has gone from strength to strength ever since. Not only has the reputation of the market grown, its popularity has too – with many locals (and not so locals) enjoying the fine produce of East Lothian’s farmers and producers.
Produce available at the market includes the best of cheeses, honey, ice cream, tomatoes and vegetables, combined with farmhouse baking, jams and preserves. You can also get your hands on cider, liqueurs, apple juice, raspberry and blaeberry bouvrage, cream, butter and handmade crafts from soaps to floral planters. As well as this fantastic local produce there are cooking demonstrations, free tastings and live music by the Haddington Pipe band.
The market is situated in a pedestrian area on Court Street, Haddington, with good parking close by. It operates from 9am – 1pm on the last Saturday of every month. Pop down next Saturday morning, 24th April, to join in the celebrations!
